Informal Hearings

An informal hearing is an opportunity for a property owner to discuss any questions or concerns about their proposed valuation with a representative from Munival. Informal hearings typically last about 5-10 minutes. It is the responsibility of the property owner to make the case that their proposed valuation is incorrect. Factors to consider in deciding whether or not to schedule a hearing include:

  • Is the property information on the Assessor’s card correct?
  • Do I have a recent appraisal of my property?
  • What are similar homes in my neighborhood selling for?

At the informal hearing, an owner should be prepared to provide information in support of their opinion, including photographs, neighborhood sales data, and recent appraisals. The hearing officer will collect any information you provide and document the discussion. You will receive notice by mail of the result of the hearing after the informal hearing process is completed.
